You can't directly replace a video on YouTube after uploading it. However, you can reupload a new video with the same title and description and then delete the older video. This allows you to update your content without losing your original views, comments, and subscribers.
Here's how to do it:
- Upload your new video. Make sure the title and description are identical to the original video.
- Go to your video manager. You can find this by clicking on your profile picture and selecting "Your channel."
- Locate the original video.
- Click on the "Edit" button.
- Click on the "Delete" button.
Note: Make sure you understand that deleting a video will permanently remove it from your channel and its associated data, including comments and likes.
Important Considerations:
- Re-upload: When you re-upload a video, YouTube treats it as a new video, so your view count and other metrics will reset.
- Metadata: Make sure the title, description, tags, and other metadata are consistent between the old and new videos.
- Privacy: If your original video was private, you'll need to make the new video private as well.
- Copyright: If your original video had copyrighted content, you'll need to ensure that the new video also has the necessary permissions.
