You can't directly change your login name on Windows 7. However, you can create a new user account with the desired name and then transfer your personal files and settings to the new account. Here's how:
Creating a New User Account
- Open User Accounts: Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts.
- Create a New Account: Click on Create a new account.
- Choose Account Type: Select Administrator for full access or Standard for limited access.
- Enter Username: Type your desired username and follow the prompts.
Transferring Files and Settings
- Copy Files: Manually copy your important files from the old account's Documents, Pictures, Music, and Downloads folders to the new account's corresponding folders.
- Transfer Settings: You can try using a third-party tool to transfer settings, but this might not work perfectly.
Deleting the Old Account
- Open User Accounts: Go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts.
- Manage Accounts: Click on Manage another account.
- Delete Account: Select your old account and click Delete the account.
Remember to back up your important files before making any changes.
