How Do I Uninstall the Windows 11 Update?

Published in Windows Update 1 min read

You can't directly uninstall a Windows 11 update in the same way you might uninstall a program. However, you can roll back to a previous version of Windows if you're unhappy with the update. Here's how:

Using Settings:

  1. Open Settings by pressing Windows key + I.
  2. Go to System > Recovery.
  3. Under Recovery options, click Go back to an earlier build.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the rollback.

Using Advanced Startup Options:

  1. Open the Start menu and click the power button.
  2. Hold down the Shift key while clicking Restart.
  3. This will take you to the Advanced Startup Options menu.
  4. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Go back to a previous build.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the rollback.

Note: Rolling back to a previous version of Windows will remove any new apps, drivers, and settings installed since the update.
