Can I Touch Dove Eggs?

Published in Wildlife 1 min read

It's generally not recommended to touch dove eggs.

Doves are sensitive birds, and they can easily abandon their nests if they detect human scent. If you touch the eggs, the parents might perceive you as a threat and choose to leave their nest, leaving the eggs vulnerable to predators or the elements.

Additionally, touching the eggs can transfer bacteria or oils from your hands, which can harm the developing chicks.

If you encounter a dove nest, it's best to observe it from a distance and avoid disturbing it in any way.
