How to Disable Network in VMware?

Published in Virtualization 2 mins read

You can disable the network for a virtual machine in VMware by following these steps:

1. Access the Virtual Machine Settings

  • Open the VMware Workstation or vSphere Client.
  • Select the virtual machine you want to modify.
  • Right-click on the virtual machine and choose Settings (or Edit Settings in vSphere Client).

2. Locate the Network Adapter

  • In the virtual machine settings window, navigate to the Hardware tab.
  • Locate the network adapter that you want to disable. It is usually labeled as Network Adapter.

3. Disable the Network Adapter

  • Uncheck the Connected checkbox next to the network adapter.
  • Click OK to save the changes.

4. Restart the Virtual Machine

  • After making the changes, restart the virtual machine for the changes to take effect.

Note: Disabling the network adapter will prevent the virtual machine from accessing the network. If you need to disable the network temporarily, you can use the Network Disconnect option in the VMware Tools menu of the virtual machine.

Important: Disabling the network adapter can affect the functionality of the virtual machine. Make sure you understand the consequences before disabling the network.
