How to Split a Video in Premiere Pro?

You can split a video in Premiere Pro by using the Blade Tool. This tool allows you to precisely cut your video at any point, dividing it into separate segments.

Here’s how to split a video in Premiere Pro:

1. Select the Blade Tool

  • Click the Blade Tool icon in the Tools panel. It looks like a razor blade.

2. Locate the Split Point

  • Move the Playhead to the exact frame where you want to split the video. You can use the timeline slider or the J/K/L keys to navigate.

3. Split the Video

  • Click once on the video clip in the timeline using the Blade Tool. This will split the video into two separate clips at the designated point.

4. (Optional) Delete or Move Clips

  • You can now delete or move the split segments as needed.

Additional Tips

  • You can split multiple clips simultaneously by selecting them in the timeline and then using the Blade Tool.
  • To split a video at multiple points, repeat steps 2 and 3 for each desired split point.
  • To undo a split, press Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Command+Z (Mac).
