How Do You Replace a Video on YouTube?

Published in Video Editing & Management 2 mins read

You can't directly replace a video on YouTube. However, you can reupload a new version of the video and delete the old one.

Here's how:

  1. Upload your new video: Go to your YouTube Studio and click on the "Upload video" button. Upload your new video and make sure it's properly titled, described, and categorized.
  2. Make the new video public: Once the upload is complete, make sure your new video is set to "Public" so it's visible to everyone.
  3. Find the old video: Go to your YouTube Studio and find the old video you want to replace.
  4. Delete the old video: Click on the three dots next to the video title and select "Delete." This will remove the old video from your channel.

Important Notes:

  • Consider your audience: If you have a large audience, you might want to announce the replacement video in the description of the new video.
  • Keep your channel organized: Regularly check your videos and remove any outdated or irrelevant content.

This process ensures that your viewers will only see the most recent version of your video. Remember, you can't directly replace a video on YouTube, but you can upload a new version and delete the old one.
