How do I overlay Google Meet?

Published in Video Conferencing 2 mins read

You can overlay Google Meet in several ways, depending on what you want to achieve.

1. Picture-in-Picture (PiP) Mode

  • Use Google Chrome: Hover over the URL bar in Chrome and click "View site information." Then, turn on "Automatic picture-in-picture." This will automatically put Google Meet into a smaller window on top of other applications.

2. Presenter Overlay

  • Use macOS Sonoma: With macOS Sonoma, you can use the Presenter Overlay feature to show content from your screen alongside your webcam feed during Google Meet calls. Note that this feature is not available for all conferencing apps and may not work with Google Meet.

3. Chrome Web Store Extensions

  • Use Google Meet Tweak: This extension allows you to add emojis, text, and camera effects to your Google Meet calls. It includes a text overlay feature that adjusts to your webcam size.

4. External Tools

  • Use Speakflow: This platform offers a virtual teleprompter feature that can be used with Google Meet. You can have your script displayed alongside your webcam feed during calls.

5. Google Cloud Transcoder API

  • Use overlays for video transcoding: The Google Cloud Transcoder API allows you to add overlays to videos during transcoding. This means you can add images or text to your Google Meet recordings after they're finished.
