The gastric brooding frog ( Rheobatrachus silus ) is the only known animal that gives birth through its mouth. This unique species, native to Australia, swallowed its fertilized eggs and nurtured the developing tadpoles inside its stomach. When the tadpoles were fully developed, the mother frog regurgitated them from her mouth, giving birth to live froglets. Sadly, the gastric brooding frog is now extinct.
Other animals, like certain fish species, engage in mouthbrooding, where they hold fertilized eggs or young in their mouths for protection and incubation. However, this is different from giving birth through the mouth, as the offspring are not developed inside the parent's body.
