Which Country Has the Fastest Train in the World?

Published in Transportation 1 min read

The country with the fastest train in the world is Japan.

The Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) operates the Shinkansen high-speed rail line, specifically the L0 series maglev train, which holds the world record for the fastest train speed.

This train reached a speed of 603 kilometers per hour (375 miles per hour) during a test run in 2015.

While this was a record-breaking speed, the L0 series maglev train is not yet commercially operational. The JR Central plans to launch the Chuo Shinkansen, a maglev line connecting Tokyo and Nagoya, by 2027.

This line will use the L0 series maglev train, offering passengers a high-speed travel experience at speeds up to 505 kilometers per hour (314 miles per hour).

The L0 series maglev train uses magnetic levitation technology, allowing it to travel at high speeds with minimal friction.

This technology allows the train to float above the track, reducing air resistance and enabling faster speeds.
