The keys used to type numbers are known as number keys. These keys are typically located at the top of the keyboard, in a separate row from the letter keys.
Number Key Layout
- Top Row: The most common layout features a row of ten keys, labeled 0 through 9, from left to right.
- Numeric Keypad: Some keyboards also include a numeric keypad, located on the right side of the keyboard. This keypad has a layout similar to a calculator, with separate keys for numbers, arithmetic operations, and special functions.
Typing Numbers
To type a number, simply press the corresponding number key. For example, to type the number "5," you would press the key labeled "5."
Additional Considerations
- Shift Key: The Shift key can be used to type special characters or symbols associated with the number keys. For example, holding down the Shift key while pressing the "1" key will type an exclamation point (!).
- Num Lock Key: The Num Lock key is used to toggle the numeric keypad between number input and cursor control.
