Is it OK to Leave Your iPhone Charging All Night?

Published in Technology 1 min read

It's generally not recommended to leave your iPhone charging overnight.

While it's convenient to plug in your phone before bed and wake up to a full battery, constantly charging your battery can lead to faster degradation over time. Lithium-ion batteries, like the ones in iPhones, have a limited number of charge cycles. Each time you charge and discharge your battery, it wears down a little bit.

Leaving your phone plugged in all night can cause it to reach 100% and stay there for a long period, which can stress the battery.

It's best to charge your iPhone to 80% or 90% and unplug it when it reaches that level. This can help extend the lifespan of your battery.

If you must charge your phone overnight, try to unplug it once it reaches 100%.

You can also use features like Optimized Battery Charging, available on newer iPhones, to help minimize battery wear.
