How Do I Export Data from a Tableau Worksheet?

You can export data from a Tableau worksheet in several ways, depending on what you want to do with the data.

Exporting Data as a Table

  1. Select the data you want to export. You can select individual marks, rows, or the entire worksheet.
  2. Right-click the selected area.
  3. Choose "Export Data". You will be presented with several options for exporting data, including:
    • CSV: A simple comma-separated value file that can be opened in most spreadsheet programs.
    • Excel: A spreadsheet file that can be opened in Microsoft Excel.

Exporting Data as a Tableau Package

  4. Select "Packaged Workbook". This will create a .twbx file that contains the data, the worksheet, and all other necessary components.

Exporting Data as a Tableau Data Source

  1. Select the data source you want to export.
  2. Right-click the data source.
  3. Choose "Export".
  4. Select "Data Source". This will create a .tds file that contains the data source definition.
