Adobe Animate can open files created in its own format, as well as import files from other Adobe applications and various common image and video formats.
Native Animate File Types:
- .fla: The primary file format for Adobe Animate, containing all the elements of your animation, including artwork, sounds, scripts, and timeline data.
- .xfl: A newer XML-based file format for Animate, providing a more structured and flexible way to store animation data.
- .jsfl: A scripting language file used to automate tasks and extend Animate's functionality.
- .as: ActionScript files containing code that controls the behavior of animations.
Imported File Types:
Adobe Animate supports importing the following formats:
- Images:
- .jpg (JPEG)
- .png (PNG)
- .gif (GIF)
- .bmp (Bitmap)
- .tif (TIFF)
- .psd (Photoshop)
- .ai (Illustrator)
- Video:
- .flv (Flash Video)
- .f4v (Flash Video)
- .avi (AVI)
- .mpg (MPEG)
- .m1v (MPEG)
- .m2p (MPEG)
- .m2t (MPEG)
- .m2ts (MPEG)
- .mts (MPEG)
- .tod (MPEG)
- .mov (QuickTime)
Important Note:
While Animate can import these file types, it cannot directly open all of them. It can only directly open its own native file formats (FLA, XFL, JSFL, AS). For other file types, you'll need to use the "File > Import > Import to Stage" option.
