Sleeping Beauty suffers from a rare neurological disorder called Kleine-Levin Syndrome (KLS), also known as "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome". KLS is characterized by recurrent episodes of excessive sleepiness, lasting for days or even weeks. These episodes can also include changes in behavior, confusion, and altered appetite. While KLS is not directly caused by a curse like in the fairytale, the extended periods of sleep and altered states of consciousness lend a resemblance to the story.
