Can I Get Antimatter?

Published in Science 1 min read

Unfortunately, you cannot simply "get" antimatter like you would buy groceries. Antimatter is incredibly rare and expensive to produce.

Here's why:

  • Antimatter is the opposite of ordinary matter. It has the same mass but opposite charge. When matter and antimatter meet, they annihilate each other, releasing a tremendous amount of energy.
  • Creating antimatter is a complex and energy-intensive process. It requires specialized particle accelerators like the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
  • Storing antimatter is incredibly challenging. It must be kept isolated from ordinary matter to prevent annihilation.

While antimatter is a fascinating topic, it's not something you can just pick up at your local store.
