How much did Charles pay for Diana's ring?

Published in Royal Engagement Rings 1 min read

Prince Charles paid £47,000 (or $60,000) for Diana's engagement ring in 1981. The ring features a 12-carat oval Ceylon sapphire surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds. It was purchased from Garrard Jewelers, a renowned London-based jeweler.

The sapphire is a royal blue color, and its origin is Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. The ring was not bespoke, but the design was chosen by Prince Charles.

After their divorce, the ring was given to Diana's son, Prince William, who proposed to his then-girlfriend, Kate Middleton, with the same ring in 2010.
