A full-term pregnancy is typically considered to be between 39 and 40 weeks from the first day of the woman's last menstrual period (LMP).
This period of time is often divided into three trimesters:
- First trimester: Weeks 1-13
- Second trimester: Weeks 14-27
- Third trimester: Weeks 28-40
While a pregnancy that ends between 37 and 42 weeks is considered full-term, pregnancies that end before 37 weeks are considered preterm or premature.
A full-term pregnancy is important for the baby's healthy development, as it allows all of the organs and systems to fully mature.
It is important to note that these are just general guidelines, and every pregnancy is unique. Some babies may be born slightly earlier or later than 39-40 weeks without any health concerns.
