Is It Okay to Push When Pooping While Pregnant?

Published in Pregnancy & Childbirth 1 min read

It's generally not recommended to push excessively when pooping while pregnant.

During pregnancy, your body experiences hormonal changes that can lead to constipation. This can make pooping more difficult and make you want to push harder. However, excessive pushing can put pressure on the pelvic floor muscles and veins in the rectum, potentially leading to hemorrhoids or other complications.

Instead of pushing hard, focus on other strategies to relieve constipation, such as:

*  Drinking plenty of fluids
*  Eating a high-fiber diet
*  Regular exercise
* Using stool softeners or laxatives (as advised by your doctor)

If you are experiencing severe constipation or pain, consult your doctor. They can help you determine the best course of action to manage your symptoms safely during pregnancy.
