How Can I Become an ISO?

Published in Organizations and Institutions 1 min read

You cannot "become an ISO". ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, a non-governmental organization that develops and publishes worldwide industrial and commercial standards.

It is not a profession or a career path. You can, however, work with ISO in several ways:

  • Become a member of an ISO technical committee: You can contribute to the development of standards by joining a technical committee focused on your area of expertise.
  • Become a certified auditor: You can become qualified to audit organizations against ISO standards by completing accredited training programs.
  • Work for an organization that uses ISO standards: Many organizations use ISO standards to improve their quality management systems, environmental performance, or other aspects of their operations. You can find employment in these organizations and contribute to their efforts.

While you cannot become an ISO, you can engage with ISO in various ways to contribute to the standardization process and benefit from its standards.
