Akbar, the Mughal emperor, is known to have had a large number of wives. However, the exact number is disputed. Historical records suggest he had around 36 wives and hundreds of concubines. Some sources even mention a number as high as 500 wives.
Akbar's first wife was his cousin, Princess Ruqaiya Sultan Begum. His second wife was Bibi Khiera, daughter of Abdullah Khan Mughal. He also married several Hindu women, demonstrating his policy of religious tolerance.
While the number of his wives is uncertain, it's clear Akbar had a vast harem, which was common among rulers of his time.
