The MRCP test is generally considered safe and well-tolerated. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential side effects.
- Contrast Material: If contrast material is used, some individuals might experience mild side effects such as nausea, headache, or pain at the injection site. These side effects are usually short-lived.
- Claustrophobia: The MRI machine can be confined, and some people may experience anxiety or claustrophobia during the test.
- Metal Implants: Individuals with metal implants, such as pacemakers or aneurysm clips, may not be suitable for an MRCP as the magnetic field can interfere with their function.
