What is Safe Mode on Samsung?

Published in Mobile Operating Systems 2 mins read

Safe Mode on Samsung devices is a troubleshooting tool that allows your phone to boot with only essential apps and services running. This helps identify if a third-party app is causing issues on your phone, such as crashes, slow performance, or battery drain.

Here's what Safe Mode does:

  • Disables third-party apps: When you boot your phone into Safe Mode, it temporarily disables all apps that you've downloaded from the Play Store or other sources.
  • Keeps essential apps running: Your phone's built-in apps and services, like the phone dialer, messaging app, and settings, will continue to function normally.
  • Provides a clean environment: This allows you to test your phone without the interference of potentially problematic apps.

How to enter Safe Mode:

  1. Power off your phone.
  2. Press and hold the Power button.
  3. When the Samsung logo appears, release the Power button and press and hold the Volume Down button.
  4. Continue holding the Volume Down button until the device restarts and displays "Safe Mode" at the bottom of the screen.

How to exit Safe Mode:

  1. Simply restart your phone normally.
  2. The device will boot back into its regular mode.

Using Safe Mode to troubleshoot:

  • Identify problematic apps: If your phone is working correctly in Safe Mode, it indicates that a third-party app is causing the issue.
  • Uninstall suspected apps: Start by uninstalling the most recently downloaded apps and see if the problem persists.
  • Clear app cache and data: If you suspect a specific app is causing the issue, you can try clearing its cache and data.

Note: Safe Mode is a temporary solution. Once you restart your phone normally, all apps will be enabled again.
