What does unhealthy plasma look like?

Published in Medical 1 min read

You can't actually see unhealthy plasma with the naked eye. Plasma is the liquid portion of your blood and is normally a pale yellow color. However, changes in the composition of plasma can indicate health problems.

Here are some examples of how unhealthy plasma can manifest:

  • Increased turbidity: Unhealthy plasma may appear cloudy or milky due to high levels of lipids (fats), such as in hyperlipidemia.
  • Abnormal color: Plasma can appear reddish due to the presence of red blood cells, indicating bleeding or hemolysis.
  • Increased viscosity: Unhealthy plasma may be thicker than normal due to increased protein levels, such as in multiple myeloma.

It's important to note that these are just a few examples, and many other factors can affect the appearance of plasma. If you are concerned about your health, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.
