SFTS stands for Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome.

This is a viral disease caused by the SFTS virus, which is a tick-borne bunyavirus.

The disease is characterized by:

  • High fever
  • Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)
  • Bleeding
  • Multi-organ failure

SFTS is mainly found in East Asia, including China, South Korea, and Japan.

The virus is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected ticks.

Currently, there is no specific treatment for SFTS.
