What Doesn't Count as Zina?

Published in Islam 1 min read

Zina, in Islamic jurisprudence, refers to unlawful sexual intercourse. It is a serious sin and is strictly prohibited. Actions that are considered zina are generally defined as sexual intercourse outside of marriage.

However, certain acts may not be considered zina. These include:

  • Acts that do not involve penetration: This includes kissing, hugging, and other forms of physical intimacy that do not involve sexual penetration.
  • Acts between spouses: Sexual intercourse between a legally married couple is permissible and does not constitute zina.
  • Acts of rape or sexual assault: These acts are considered crimes and are not considered zina as the victim is not consenting.

It is important to note that Islamic jurisprudence is complex and interpretations can vary. If you have any questions or concerns about what constitutes zina, it is advisable to consult with a qualified Islamic scholar.
