The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught his followers to seek refuge in Allah when experiencing a bad dream. He advised reciting specific supplications and seeking protection from the evil eye.
Here are some actions the Prophet Muhammad is reported to have taken when he had a bad dream:
- Recited the A'uzu Billahi (Seek Refuge in Allah): The Prophet would say, " A'uzu billahi min ash-shaytanir rajim " (I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan) three times.
- Spat three times to the left: This act is believed to ward off evil.
- Changed his sleeping position: The Prophet would change his sleeping position to the right side.
- Performed Wudu (ablution): This act of purification is believed to cleanse the body and soul.
- Recited the Ayatul Kursi (Verse of the Throne): This verse from the Quran is known for its powerful protective qualities.
- Recited the Surah Al-Ikhlas (The Purity): This short chapter of the Quran is known for its powerful affirmation of Allah's oneness.
The Prophet Muhammad also emphasized seeking refuge in Allah's protection and seeking forgiveness for any sins. He discouraged dwelling on bad dreams and encouraged a positive outlook.
