Apple Private Relay doesn't directly affect your email. It focuses on encrypting and routing your internet traffic, not your email specifically.
Here's how it works:
- Data Encryption: When you use Private Relay, your internet traffic is encrypted twice. First, your device encrypts the data, and then Apple's servers further encrypt it before sending it to its destination. This makes it difficult for anyone, including Apple, to see what you're doing online.
- IP Address Masking: Private Relay hides your real IP address from websites you visit. Instead, it shows a temporary IP address assigned by Apple, making it harder for websites to track your location and browsing activity.
Email is typically handled by separate services and protocols, like SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), and is not directly affected by Private Relay.
Therefore, your emails will continue to be sent and received through your email provider, such as Gmail, Outlook, or iCloud Mail, regardless of whether you have Private Relay enabled.
