How to Crop Canvas in Inkscape?

You can crop your canvas in Inkscape using the Page dialog box.

Steps to Crop Your Canvas:

  1. Open the Page Dialog Box: Go to File > Document Properties or press Shift + Ctrl + D.
  2. Select the 'Page' Tab: In the dialog box, click on the 'Page' tab.
  3. Adjust the Canvas Size: You can either use the 'Width' and 'Height' fields to define the new canvas size or use the 'Resize' option to resize the canvas to the current selection.
  4. Crop the Canvas: Click on the 'Apply' button to crop the canvas to the specified size.

Example:

  • You have a design that is 10 inches wide and 8 inches tall.
  • You want to crop the canvas to 8 inches wide and 6 inches tall.
  • Go to File > Document Properties.
  • Select the 'Page' tab.
  • Set the 'Width' to 8 inches and the 'Height' to 6 inches.
  • Click 'Apply'.
  • Your canvas will now be cropped to 8 inches wide and 6 inches tall.

Additional Tips:

  • You can also use the Selection tool (F1) to select the area you want to keep and then use the Crop tool (Shift + Ctrl + K) to crop the canvas to the selection.
  • If you want to crop the canvas to the bounds of the current selection, you can use the Object > Crop to Selection option.
