How Do I Rotate an Image in Lightroom?

You can rotate an image in Lightroom using the Rotate Tool found in the Develop Module.

Rotating an Image

  1. Select the image: Click on the image you want to rotate in the Filmstrip or Grid view.
  2. Open the Develop Module: Click on the Develop icon at the top of the Lightroom window.
  3. Access the Rotate Tool: You can find the Rotate Tool in the Tools Panel on the left side of the screen. It looks like a curved arrow.
  4. Rotate the image: Click on the Rotate Tool. You can either use the clockwise or counter-clockwise buttons to rotate the image in increments of 90 degrees, or you can drag the image directly to rotate it freely.
  5. Confirm the rotation: Once you've rotated the image to your liking, you can click the Apply button to confirm the rotation.

Additional Tips

  • Straighten Tool: If you need to make minor adjustments to the image's orientation, you can use the Straighten Tool which is located right next to the Rotate Tool.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: You can also use keyboard shortcuts to rotate your image. Press R to activate the Rotate Tool and use the left and right arrow keys to rotate the image by 90 degrees.
  • Transform Panel: If you need to make more advanced adjustments to your image, such as cropping or resizing, you can use the Transform Panel in the Develop Module.

By following these steps, you can easily rotate any image in Lightroom to achieve your desired orientation.
