Published in Image Editing 2 mins read

You can resize an object in Photoshop using the Free Transform tool.

Steps to Resize an Object:

  1. Select the object: Use the Selection tools (e.g., Marquee tool, Lasso tool, Magic Wand tool) to select the object you want to resize.
  2. Activate Free Transform: Press Ctrl+T (Windows) or Cmd+T (Mac) to activate the Free Transform tool. You will see a bounding box around the selected object.
  3. Resize: Hover your mouse over one of the corner handles on the bounding box. Your cursor will change to a double-arrow. Click and drag to resize the object.
  4. Maintain Proportions: Hold down Shift while dragging to maintain the original aspect ratio of the object.
  5. Adjust Dimensions: You can also enter specific dimensions in the Options Bar at the top of the screen.
  6. Confirm: Press Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac) to apply the changes.

Additional Tips:

  • Transform controls: You can also use the transform controls to rotate, skew, or distort the object.
  • Content-Aware Scale: For more advanced resizing, use the Content-Aware Scale feature. This feature automatically adjusts the surrounding pixels to minimize distortion.

Example:

Let's say you want to resize a picture of a flower. You can select the flower using the Lasso tool, activate Free Transform, and drag the corner handles to make the flower bigger or smaller.

By following these steps, you can easily resize any object in Photoshop.
