How Do I Add an Animation Layer in Photoshop?

You can add an animation layer in Photoshop by using the Timeline panel.

Open the Timeline panel by going to Window > Timeline.
Click the Create Frame Animation button at the bottom of the panel.
This will create a new animation layer, and you can add frames to it by clicking the + button.
You can then create your animation by changing the content of each frame.

Adding Frames:

  • Adding a frame: Click the + button to add a new frame to your animation.
  • Duplicating a frame: Right-click on a frame and select Duplicate Frame.
  • Deleting a frame: Right-click on a frame and select Delete Frame.

Animating Your Layers:

  • Moving layers: You can animate layers by moving them between frames.
  • Changing layer styles: You can animate layer styles by changing them between frames.
  • Adding keyframes: Keyframes are used to mark changes in your animation. To add a keyframe, simply click the stopwatch icon next to the property you want to animate.

Playing Your Animation:

  • Playing: Click the Play button in the Timeline panel to preview your animation.
  • Looping: You can set your animation to loop by clicking the Looping Options menu and selecting your preferred looping mode.

Saving Your Animation:

  • Saving as a GIF: You can save your animation as a GIF by going to File > Save for Web (Legacy).
  • Saving as a video: You can save your animation as a video by going to File > Export > Render Video.

By following these steps, you can easily add an animation layer to your Photoshop project and create dynamic and engaging visuals.
