How do you select all groups in Illustrator?

Published in Illustrator 1 min read

You can select all groups in Illustrator using the Select All command (Ctrl+A on Windows or Command+A on Mac). This will select all objects on the artboard, including any grouped objects.

To select only the groups, you can use the following methods:

  • Using the Selection Tool:
    • Select the Selection Tool (black arrow).
    • Click on the Group Selection button in the Control Panel or the Properties Panel.
    • Click on any group to select it.
  • Using the Direct Selection Tool:
    • Select the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow).
    • Press and hold Shift and click on any grouped object. This will select all groups containing that object.
  • Using the Object > Group Selection Command:
    • Go to Object > Group Selection.
    • Choose Select All Groups.

Remember that selecting groups can be helpful for tasks like moving, resizing, or applying effects to multiple objects at once.
