Who Lived More Than 125 Years?

Published in Human Longevity 1 min read

There is no documented case of a human living for more than 125 years. The oldest verified human lifespan is 122 years and 164 days, belonging to Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died in 1997.

While some claims of individuals living for centuries exist, these are generally considered to be unsubstantiated or mythical.

Here are some reasons why humans haven't been able to live for more than 125 years:

  • Biological limitations: Human bodies have a natural lifespan, influenced by factors like genetics, lifestyle, and environmental conditions.
  • Aging process: As we age, our cells and tissues deteriorate, leading to a decline in function and increased vulnerability to disease.
  • Disease and mortality: Humans are susceptible to a variety of diseases and conditions that can shorten their lifespan.

While we haven't broken the 125-year barrier yet, ongoing research into aging and longevity may reveal ways to extend the human lifespan in the future.
