Which Part of the Brain Sends Messages?

Published in Human Anatomy 1 min read

The brain is a complex organ that controls many functions of the body, including movement, thought, and emotion. It does this by sending messages through a network of nerves.

While all parts of the brain work together, the cerebrum is responsible for sending most of the messages that control our body. The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and is divided into two hemispheres: the left and right. Each hemisphere controls the opposite side of the body.

Here are some examples of messages the cerebrum sends:

  • Motor commands: The cerebrum sends messages to the muscles to initiate movement.
  • Sensory information: The cerebrum receives sensory information from the body, such as touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing.
  • Thoughts and emotions: The cerebrum is responsible for processing thoughts, feelings, and memories.

The cerebrum communicates with the rest of the body through the spinal cord. The spinal cord is a long bundle of nerves that runs down the back. It carries messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
