Several types of infections can delay your period.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
PID is an infection of the reproductive organs, often caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like chlamydia or gonorrhea. It can cause inflammation and pain in the pelvis, which can interfere with ovulation and menstruation.
Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)
UTIs are infections of the urinary tract, which can also cause pain and inflammation in the pelvis. While less common than PID, UTIs can sometimes affect the reproductive system and lead to irregular periods.
Other Infections
Other infections, such as the flu or a severe cold, can also delay your period. This is because these infections can disrupt your body's hormonal balance, which can affect your menstrual cycle.
Note:
If you experience a delayed period or other unusual menstrual symptoms, it is important to consult with your doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions.
