Body lice, also known as "crabs", are tiny, wingless insects that live on the human body, feeding on blood. They are attracted to the following:
- Warmth and Humidity: Body lice thrive in warm, humid environments. They are particularly attracted to areas of the body that are typically warm and moist, such as the groin, armpits, and chest.
- Clothing and Bedding: Body lice prefer to live in clothing and bedding, where they can easily find a host and lay their eggs.
- Human Blood: Body lice feed on human blood, and are drawn to the scent of humans.
Preventing Body Lice:
- Maintain Good Hygiene: Regular showering and washing clothing can help to reduce the risk of body lice infestation.
- Avoid Close Contact: Avoid close contact with people who may have body lice.
- Inspect Clothing: Regularly inspect clothing for lice or nits (eggs).
- Wash Bedding Regularly: Wash bedding in hot water and dry on high heat to kill any lice or nits.
Note: If you suspect you have body lice, it is important to seek medical attention for treatment.
