Published in Google Sheets 1 min read

You can unlock a protected sheet in Google Sheets by following these simple steps:

  1. Open the Google Sheet: Go to the Google Sheet you want to unlock.
  2. Go to the 'Data' Menu: Click on the 'Data' menu in the toolbar.
  3. Select 'Protected sheets and ranges': This option will open a sidebar.
  4. Choose the protected sheet or range: Select the sheet or range you want to unlock from the sidebar.
  5. Click the Trash Icon: Click on the trash can icon next to the description box to remove the protection.

Important Note: You must have editing permissions for the spreadsheet to unlock a protected sheet.

If you're unable to unlock the sheet, it may be because:

  • You are not the owner of the sheet: Only the owner of the sheet can unlock it.
  • Someone else has protected the sheet: You may need to ask the person who protected the sheet to unlock it.
