The real name of Benin is Republic of Benin.
This is the official name of the country, which is located in West Africa. It is a landlocked country bordered by Togo, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria.
The name "Benin" is derived from the Kingdom of Dahomey, which was a powerful West African state that existed in the area from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
After gaining independence from France in 1960, the country adopted the name Republic of Dahomey.
However, in 1975, the country changed its name to People's Republic of Benin to reflect the Marxist-Leninist ideology of the ruling government at the time.
In 1990, after the fall of the communist regime, the country reverted to its current name, Republic of Benin.
