Istanbul currently has two major international airports:
Istanbul Airport (IST)
- Located on the European side of Istanbul, about 35 kilometers north of the city center.
- Opened in 2018, replacing Atatürk Airport as the main international airport in Istanbul.
- It is the largest airport in the world by passenger capacity and is a major hub for Turkish Airlines.
Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW)
- Located on the Asian side of Istanbul, about 45 kilometers southeast of the city center.
- Opened in 2001, serving as a secondary international airport for Istanbul.
- It is a hub for Pegasus Airlines and is popular for budget airlines.
Both airports offer a wide range of domestic and international flight options.
