What Are Girl Heroes Called?

Published in Gender and Identity 1 min read

There isn't a specific term for female heroes. They are simply called heroes just like their male counterparts.

While some may use terms like heroine or female hero, these aren't universally accepted and can sometimes be seen as outdated or even limiting.

The important thing is to recognize and celebrate the courage, strength, and achievements of all heroes, regardless of gender.

Here are some examples of female heroes:

  • Wonder Woman: A fictional superhero known for her strength, compassion, and dedication to justice.
  • Malala Yousafzai: A Pakistani activist who bravely fought for girls' education.
  • Rosa Parks: An American civil rights activist who sparked the Montgomery bus boycott by refusing to give up her seat to a white man.
  • Marie Curie: A Polish physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity, becoming the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only person to win Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields.

These women, and countless others, have shown us that heroism knows no gender.
