The part of the sweet potato used for propagation is the slip.
A slip is a section of the sweet potato vine that has developed roots. You can easily identify a slip by its green, leafy stems and the presence of small, white roots.
To propagate a sweet potato, you can simply cut a slip from the vine and plant it in soil. The slip will then grow into a new sweet potato plant.
Sweet potatoes can also be propagated from tubers, but this is less common. When propagating from a tuber, you would cut a piece of the tuber that contains a bud (also known as an eye) and plant it in soil.
