What does BBD mean?

Published in Food & Drink 1 min read

BBD stands for Best Before Date.

This date is printed on food products to indicate the last date the manufacturer recommends for optimal quality and flavor.

It is important to note that the BBD is not the same as an expiry date. Food products are still generally safe to consume after the BBD, although their quality may have declined.

Here are some examples of how BBD is used:

  • Dairy products: Milk, yogurt, and cheese often have BBDs to indicate when they will start to spoil.
  • Baked goods: Bread, cakes, and pastries have BBDs to indicate when they will become stale.
  • Canned goods: While canned goods have a longer shelf life, they also have BBDs to indicate when they may start to lose flavor or texture.

To ensure food safety, it is always a good idea to check the BBD before consuming any food product. However, if the product looks, smells, or tastes off, it is best to discard it.
