You don't need to convert an Excel file to a shared Excel file. Excel files are inherently sharable by default. To allow others to collaborate on your Excel file, you can simply save it and then share it with them.
Here's how you can share an Excel file:
- Save the file: Ensure you have saved the file in a location accessible to those you want to share it with.
- Share the file: You can share the file through various methods, such as:
- Email: Attach the file to an email and send it to the recipients.
- Cloud storage: Upload the file to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox and share the link with the recipients.
- File sharing service: Use a file-sharing service like WeTransfer or Send Anywhere to share the file securely.
Once the file is shared, recipients can open it and view or edit it depending on the permissions you have set.
To enable co-authoring:
- Save the file in a cloud storage service: This allows multiple users to work on the file simultaneously.
- Enable co-authoring: In Excel, go to File > Share > Share with others. This option allows you to invite others to edit the file.
Note: To collaborate on an Excel file, everyone involved needs to have access to the file and a suitable version of Excel or a compatible spreadsheet application.
