How to Configure Gmail on Outlook?

You can access your Gmail account within Outlook by setting up a POP or IMAP connection. This allows you to read and send emails from your Gmail account using your Outlook interface.

Here's how to configure Gmail on Outlook:

Step 1: Open Outlook and Add Account

  1. Open Outlook on your computer.
  2. Click File and then Add Account.
  3. Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.

Step 2: Choose Account Type

  1. Choose POP or IMAP and click Next.
  2. Enter your Gmail email address and password.

Step 3: Configure Server Settings

  1. Incoming server: Choose IMAP.
  2. Incoming server address: imap.gmail.com
  3. Outgoing server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
  4. Outgoing server requires authentication: Check this box.
  5. Use the same settings for incoming and outgoing servers: Check this box.
  6. Encryption method: Choose SSL/TLS.
  7. Port number for incoming server: 993
  8. Port number for outgoing server: 465
  9. Click Next.

Step 4: Test Account Settings

Outlook will attempt to connect to your Gmail account. If successful, you'll see a confirmation message. If not, double-check your settings and try again.

Step 5: Choose Additional Settings

  1. You can choose to leave emails on the server or download them to Outlook.
  2. You can also choose how you want to manage your sent items.
  3. Click Finish.

Important Notes:

  • If you encounter any issues, check your Gmail account settings for less secure app access. You may need to enable it.
  • You can always adjust your settings later by going to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly access your Gmail account within your Outlook interface, allowing you to manage all your emails from one location.
