Can We Use DC at Home?

While we primarily use alternating current (AC) in our homes, direct current (DC) is also used for several applications.

Direct Current Uses at Home:

  • LED Lighting: LED bulbs and strips operate on DC power, making them energy-efficient and long-lasting.

Why We Don't Use DC Primarily:

  • Transmission Efficiency: AC is more efficient for transmitting electricity over long distances compared to DC.
  • Voltage Transformation: AC voltage can be easily transformed using transformers, making it suitable for different applications and distribution networks.
