You can't directly "turn on" Google Assignments in Canvas. Canvas doesn't have a built-in feature to directly integrate with Google Drive or Google Classroom. However, you can use Google Assignments through a third-party tool like Google Classroom or Google Drive.
Using Google Classroom
- Create a Google Classroom: If you haven't already, create a Google Classroom for your course.
- Share the Classroom Code: Share the Classroom code with your students.
- Assign Tasks: Assign tasks in Google Classroom and link them to Canvas.
- Link to Canvas: You can create a Canvas assignment that links to the Google Classroom assignment. This allows you to collect submissions and provide feedback in Canvas.
Using Google Drive
- Create a Google Drive Folder: Create a Google Drive folder for your course.
- Share the Folder: Share the folder with your students.
- Assign Tasks: Assign tasks in Canvas and have students submit their work to the shared Google Drive folder.
- Grade Submissions: You can grade submissions directly in the Google Drive folder.
These methods allow you to leverage the benefits of Google's tools while maintaining the organization and structure of Canvas.
