How do German Shepherds say sorry?

Published in Dog Behavior 1 min read

German Shepherds, like other dogs, don't actually speak human language. They communicate through body language and actions. To say sorry, a German Shepherd might:

  • Tuck their tail between their legs: This is a sign of submission and shows that they recognize they did something wrong.
  • Avoid eye contact: They might look down or away from you, indicating they're trying to avoid confrontation.
  • Whine or whimper: This can be a way for them to express remorse and seek your forgiveness.
  • Lick your face: This is a common sign of affection and can be interpreted as a way of making amends.
  • Lie down or roll over: This is another sign of submission and shows that they're ready to accept your discipline.

It's important to remember that while dogs can exhibit behaviors that we interpret as apologies, they don't necessarily understand the concept of "sorry" in the same way humans do.
