How Do You Export Parts of Figma?

You can export various parts of your Figma designs as individual files for use in other applications. Here's how:

1. Select the Elements You Want to Export

  • Click on the elements you want to export. You can select multiple elements by holding down the Shift key.

2. Access the Export Menu

  • Go to the File menu and choose Export.
  • Alternatively, you can right-click on the selected elements and choose Export.

3. Choose Your Export Settings

  • Format: Select the desired file format for your export. Common options include PNG, JPG, SVG, and PDF.
  • Scale: Adjust the size of the exported image. You can choose from percentages or set a specific width and height.
  • Background: Choose whether to include a background color or make it transparent.
  • Destination: Select the location where you want to save your exported files.

4. Export Your Design

  • Click Export. Figma will create the selected files in your chosen location.

5. Exporting Specific Layers or Frames

  • You can also export individual layers or frames by selecting them and using the Export menu.
  • For frames, you can choose to export the entire frame or just its contents.

Example

Let's say you want to export a button from your Figma design as a PNG file with a transparent background. You would:

  1. Select the button.
  2. Go to File > Export.
  3. Choose PNG as the format.
  4. Set Background to Transparent.
  5. Choose your desired Scale.
  6. Select a Destination folder.
  7. Click Export.

Figma will then create a PNG file of the button with a transparent background in your chosen location.
