How Do I Edit a Saved Export in Access?

Published in Database Management 1 min read

You can't directly edit a saved export in Access. Exports are static files that are created in a different format, such as Excel, CSV, or PDF, and Access doesn't have built-in functionality to edit them.

To make changes, you need to:

  1. Open the exported file in its native application. For example, open an Excel export in Microsoft Excel.
  2. Edit the data as needed.
  3. Save the changes in the original file format.

Example:

  • You exported a table from Access as a CSV file.
  • You want to edit some data in the CSV file.
  • Open the CSV file in a text editor or spreadsheet software.
  • Make the necessary changes.
  • Save the file as a CSV.

Remember: Changes made to the exported file will not be reflected in the original Access database unless you import the edited file back into Access.
